What settings do I use ?
Generally, we would recommend to use Elite
for you, Recruit for the AI. If this is too difficult, use Veteran for
both sides (as for H2H). Or if things are too easy for you can install the vet
submods for harder game against the AI. In general the AI will get larger more
experienced squads with better weapons. While you as the human player will get
less air support and delays in the arrival of your reinforcements.
Mod Team:
The original mod team for Meuse Crossing consisted of
Luer and Moloch who worked on this mod from January to May 2001. Luer was
responsible for the data changes, with a bit of graphics and historic research,
while Moloch handled the rest. The mod was last updated by them in November 2001,
when they
released version 2.0.
Both mod makers names have appeared together and individually on others mods;
Afrika mod for CC3, Winter War for CC4, Finland Mod for CC3,
PanzerJager mod for CC3, Real Romanians for CC3, etc. . Unfortunately the
constraints of real life and time maybe taking away some of the
enthusiasm for CC have made these two mod makers less active the last couple of
years…. To the mod team, thank you for breaking new ground
with this mod and all the extra hours of game play you added to CC5!
As a fan of CC and their mod, I decided to address some of the issues that
existed with the last version they did v2.0.

Unresolved Bugs:
-
Whenever a single battle is started you
have about a 50% chance to be kicked out of Close Comabt to the Windows desktop.
I could not identify what caused this problem but did verify that this problem
has been in all versions of the mod. If anyone can figure the problem out with
the single battles, please let me know so that I can do one last update. Also,
if you do notice any other problems please post on the forums at
www.closecombat.org or www.wargamer.com.
-
The Pz IB and AMR 35 soldiers on the
soldier screen, accessed from the BG unit selection screen, will not have a
weapon. This happens whenever a vehicle has a crew of two and only 1 gun that is
in the turret (in CC5 from Atomic the SDKfz 250/1 #18 has the same problem).
Notes:
-
French BG's are always visible. This is
not a bug as in clear weather German air superiority reports on French BG's. If
you do not like this you can open the Grand Campaign and save it using random or
historical weather. In reality the Germans had good weather and controlled the
skies...
-
All French BG's with Med or Heavy tanks
will have a Heavy Tank strategic map icon because of #1 above. Hopefully this
causes more problems for the German commander than the French.
-
In the Grand Campaign and Meuse Crossing
French supply maps are setup as German controlled to limit supplies to the
French troops. As French reinforcements arrive these maps will become Fench
controlled allowing supplies to flow. Remember, this area was considered safe by
the Allies and defended with reserve troops who most likely had a limited
stockpile of supplies.
-
Meuse uses a modified CC3 elements file.
The Wreck #84 element and stone fence #16 element have been swapped so that the
hard coded wreck element #16 in CC5.exe does indeed find a wreck.
Best Practices In A Online Campaign:
-
Always get the person who joins a game to
hit next 1st and then the host as soon as possible after
-
The Host should always go back to the
network screen after a battle and save or the bg's are often not saved correctly
-
Adding both air and artillery to the same
battle sometimes causes a crash (if you really need the map go for it)
Thanks
to all who gave us input, feedback and the tools to mod Close Combat!
